Knife Setter
3rd shift, 9:45 PM - 6:15 AM
Athens, AL
$16/hr and will go up to $20/hr after 320hrs are worked
Description
Setting up and adjusting knives, blades, or cutting tools on various types of machines such as saws, lathes, milling machines, or grinders.
Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications to determine the correct settings for the knives.
Using precision measuring instruments like micrometers, calipers, or gauges to ensure accurate setup.
Inspecting knives for sharpness, wear, or damage, and replacing or sharpening them as needed.
Monitoring machine operations to ensure knives are cutting materials properly and making adjustments as necessary.
Collaborating with machine operators or production supervisors to optimize cutting processes and minimize downtime.
Adhering to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
Maintaining records of knife settings, adjustments, and maintenance activities for documentation and reference purposes.
Qualifications:
Must be able to do physical labor
Must be able to lift 30-40 lbs
Must be able to work in non climate controlled facility
