Fulfillment Center Manager Job Overview:

The manager is responsible for providing leadership to all aspects of the Fulfillment Center by overseeing the receiving, warehousing, and distribution services.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

o Maintains receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and

enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.

o Complies with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.

o Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with data storage system.

o Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.

o Completes Fulfillment Center operational requirements by scheduling and assigning associates work including making sure the work is being done correctly and in the specified amount of time deemed necessary.

o Maintains Fulfillment Center team by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training associates in coordination with Human Resources to include career growth in their roles, the team, or potentially other departments in the company.

o Maintains Fulfillment Center team job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining associates while planning, monitoring, and appraising job results in coordination with Human Resources.

o Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

o Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

o Supervise the activities of workers engaged in receiving, storing, testing, and shipping products or materials.

o Plan, develop, and implement Fulfillment Center safety and security programs and protocols.

o Regularly inspect the physical conditions of the Fulfillment Center and the equipment used to be sure they are at their optimal level. When necessary, determine course of action to take whether testing, maintenance, repair, or replacement.

o Respond to customers' or shippers' questions and complaints regarding storage and distribution services.

o Develop and document standard and emergency operating procedures for receiving, handling, storing, shipping, or salvaging products or materials.

o Review invoices, work orders, consumption reports, or demand forecasts to estimate peak delivery periods and to issue work assignments.

o Monitor inventory of products or materials in warehouses and works with Purchasing to maintain required levels.

o Develop storage and distribution models that include factors such as warehouse locations, customer locations, or available transportation modes to maximize operational efficiency or sustainability.

o Track and trace goods while they are en route to their destinations, expediting orders when necessary.

o Participate in setting transportation and service rates.

o Prepare and manage departmental budgets.

o Issue shipping instructions and provide routing information to ensure that delivery times and locations are coordinated.

o Evaluate locations for new warehouses or distribution networks to determine their potential usefulness.

o Examine products or materials to estimate quantities or weight and type of container required for storage or transport.

o Develop and Maintain Key Performance Indicators (Metrics) that are industry recognized and relate to the fulfilment center operations for receiving, picking, shipping, inventory accuracy, and quality.

o Coordinate and participate in operational meetings with other departments (Sales, Customer Service, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing).

Education

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); with required minimum experience.

• Minimum 5 years of management experience within a warehouse and distribution.

• Preferably experience with high volume distributor.

Skills/Competencies

• Possesses strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with diverse personalities and individuals of all levels inside and outside the organization.

• Knowledge of the applicable standard grades and qualities of equipment, materials, and supplies; ability to prepare and maintain accurate records; ability to plan and supervise the work of others.

• Team building ability, self-motivation, and ability to work independently.

• Ability to read, write and communicate in English to promote trainability and interpret work documents including manuals.

• Includes appropriate people in decision making process and supports/explains reasoning for decisions.

• Good communication skills.

• Resourceful and well organized.

• Basic math skills, such as: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals to read, understand, and operate measurement instruments and work documents.

• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with associates; ability to prepare reports and maintain accurate records.

• Displays willingness to make decisions timely, exhibits sound and accurate judgment and communicates changes effectively.
