Aerotek Welder in Cherry Hill, New Jersey
Job Title: MIG Welder
Responsibilities
Perform stitch weld, full weld components and assemblies with GMAW process.
Use oxy/acetylene and plasma cutter when necessary.
Read tape measures and basic blueprints.
Utilize basic hand tools and grinders as needed.
Lay out, measure, and mark dimensions and reference lines on materials.
Fasten seams and joints together with welds, bolts, cement, rivets, solder, and other methods.
Fabricate or alter parts at construction sites using shears, hammers, punches, and drills.
Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, and smooth surfaces, seams, and joints of assembled parts.
Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded.
Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments.
Monitor fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
Essential Skills
Technical training and/or 2+ years of MIG welding experience.
Ability to lay out, measure, and mark dimensions and reference lines on materials.
Proficiency in using hand tools and portable power tools.
Knowledge of gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc, resistance welding, and submerged arc welding processes.
Ability to read tape measures and basic blueprints.
Must pass AWS 4G welding test
Work Environment
The position involves production welding in a facility that operates on a 1st shift schedule (7am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday) and a 2nd shift schedule (Monday to Thursday, 1:30pm to 12am). The work environment includes the use of welding and fabrication equipment, hand tools, and grinders.
