Aerotek Controls Technician in Del Valle, Texas

Job Description:

Successful, state of the art, climate controlled industrial manufacturing plant in East Austin seeking an experienced Controls Technician to join their team as they ramp up production! This is an organized, clean and well organized production plant and they are serious about their work and value their employees greatly - they've been an established business for many years, have a great reputation, and are well known in the community as they treat their employees extremely well. VERY clean, organized, and climate controlled. Looking for someone experienced with troubleshooting and configuration of Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, controls, instrumentation, SCADA, 480v, in an industrial manufacturing environment.

Pay: $40 - $50/hr based on interview, experience, and skills*

Shift: First shift

Controls and Electrical Specialist:

  • This is a 50% office/desk job to map out and plan work to be done, and 50% roaming the floor looking for areas of opportunity/helping to identify problems and troubleshoot.

  • Seeking a self-starter as this position will require you to take initiative and be your own boss.

  • Expected to come up with his/her own schedule throughout the day and week.

  • This person will find areas for improvement and identify problems and will prioritize his/her own schedule of what needs to be done first.

  • This position will be responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing production/manufacturing equipment.

  • Inspection of equipment for proper functioning and performing preventative maintenance duties per manufacturer’s specifications.

  • This position may require weekend and/or holiday work.

  • The position is located in Austin, TX reporting to the Controls and Electrical Supervisor.

Responsibilities:

  • Actively solicit knowledge transfer from electrical & controls specialists.

  • Maintain and repair mechanical/electrical systems, factory automation and robotics equipment as well as a wide array of manufacturing equipment and operational technologies (OT) networks

  • Assist and lead assigned activities associated with the control of packaging equipment

  • Lead complex technical clarifications and root cause analysis processes.

  • Programming and installation of automation systems and interfacing with other factory control systems (Historians, PLC’s, HMI’s, robotics, VFD’s, servo drives and computers, etc.)

  • Work with the controls and equipment engineering and production maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability while minimizing/eliminate downtime.

  • Support the development of information systems tracking line efficiencies and equipment performance.

  • Assist maintenance personnel in the replacement or repair of motors, drive units and all other packaging power and control components in a teaching capacity or independently as required.

  • Respond to emergency requests for immediate repairs

  • Troubleshoot using meters, laptop, schematics and manuals

  • Perform corrective maintenance by searching for error codes inside of the electrical panel for electrical systems ranging from 24 VDC to 480 VAC 3 phase.

  • Reenergize electrical circuits in compliance with standard operating procedures.

  • Motivated to continuous improvement in the process to maintain optimum operation conditions and plant productivity

  • Maintain ongoing professional development activities to enhance job performance

  • Ensure all GMP, Quality and Health & Safety standards are upheld

  • Other duties as assigned

Additional Skills & Qualifications: Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • 5-10 years of experience in similar position required.

  • Experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, PLC ladder and script logic, electrical and mechanical systems.

  • Ability to adapt and apply new technology and innovate procedures

  • High level of analytical thinking, and brings successful resolution to high-impact, complex, and/or cross-functional problems

  • Technical leadership with an ability to provide guidance and share knowledge within the organization

o Lots of Allen Bradley experience. FactoryTalk platform Asset Center, it’s an Allen Bradley software.

o Someone who can look at PLCs daily and research any changes or updates

o Looking at the lines, are there any areas that can be improved or made more efficient. Always making improvements and tweaks to run more efficiently

o Kinetix servo drives

o HMI, panel view plus, line information system is a giant HMI that monitors along the line that will show status of machinery

o Historians is factory soft platform that captures history scada and historical data

o 5-10 years at least in a manufacturing plant doing controls and automation
