Aerotek Painter in Hampstead, Maryland
Description:
Cleans parts prior to painting, masks following drawing requirements and with using various measuring tools and templates & paints parts per internal/customer process specification.
Set up, maintain and operate equipment such as HVLP paint guns (gravity fed and pressure fed equipment) paint mixers, mil thickness gauges and other paint measuring equipment and other general shop equipment and tools to complete work assignments.
Mix and apply various topcoat finishes within thickness requirements (polyurethanes, epoxy, lacquers, clears, (gloss, semi-gloss, and flat finishes)
Selects & mixes coating material along with the basic understanding of various paints, primers & other chemicals associated with defense coatings.
Maintains a clean and safe working environment by proactively cleaning equipment and paint booth area; complying with company polices.
Leads all housekeeping and foreign object debris (FOD) initiatives.
Diagnose various paint problems such as solvent pops, fade out, orange peel, etc.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
2 years’ experience preferred
Ability to read manufacturing drawings, e.g., masking locations, prime only locations and general notes.
Experience working with MIL-Specs (military specifications).
Good knowledge of paint mixing techniques and strong attention to detail for part appearance/quality
