Aerotek Outside Machinist / Refrigeration Mechanic in Hampton, Virginia

Description:

• Shipyard experience/ Navy experience is a must

• Must have tools, gauges and refrigeration tools

• Clean driving record

Job Purpose:

Provides repair/installation/warranty support to galley refrigeration equipment aboard US Navy Ships and Submarines.

Duties:

• Perform assessments of small (under 5 lbs.) refrigerator/freezer refrigeration units (technician must have basic electrical knowledge for all refrigeration components), ice machines (bulk and dispense), walk-in refrigeration units.

• Perform repairs to units assessed (brazing, component replacement, leak test and repair per EPA code)

• Perform general repairs such as: equipment installation, grinding and cutting of metals, pipe fitting, fire watch, and labor.

• Understand and execute shipboard and shipyard safety practices and procedures.

• Troubleshoot and fill out found condition reports, job discrepancy forms and required forms IAW NAVSEA Standard Items accurately and timely.

• Research and correctly identify OEM parts, assess equipment and material discrepancies directly with manufacturers effectively and accurately.

• Maintains continuity among departments by documenting and communicating actions, discrepancies, and continuing needs.

•Possesses an extensive working knowledge of Naval Shipboard acronyms, aircraft carrier and surface ship engineering mechanical systems, equipment and operations

Adept at compiling data and other information and forming them into clear, succinct products for leadership

Able to work in a fast-paced environment

Ability to learn new tasks and concepts quickly

Self-motivated team player must be able to work independently

Detail oriented and efficient at multitasking

Good driving record required.

•Experience Viewing Designs, Schematics and Drawings, Verbal Communication, Listening, Professionalism, Customer Focus, Organization, Works Well in a Fast Paced Environment, Handles Pressure and Exhibits Flexibility. COACHABLE.

• Personal Tools .

• Brazing (Soldering) Experience and Basic Electrical Skills a Plus.

• Universal Refrigerant Certification or Type II & II Certification is a plus
