Job Title: Fleet Mechanic

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Fleet Mechanic to service and maintain a fleet of trucks, trailers, and other heavy equipment. The role involves performing regular preventative maintenance, inspecting equipment for compliance and functionality, and troubleshooting issues while participating in repairs. The ideal candidate will accurately interpret repair manuals and work orders, respond to roadside calls for disabled vehicles, and maintain a clean and organized work environment. Following all company safety rules and regulations is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular preventative maintenance on fleet trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment.

  • Inspect all fleet equipment for compliance and functionality.

  • Ensure all moving parts are well-greased and operational.

  • Troubleshoot issues and participate in repairs.

  • Accurately interpret repair manuals and work orders.

  • Respond to roadside calls for disabled vehicles as needed.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

  • Follow all company safety rules and regulations.

Essential Skills

  • Mechanical knowledge.

  • Diesel mechanic experience.

  • Experience in fleet maintenance.

  • Ability to service and diagnose brakes.

  • Ability to service and diagnose diesel trucks (tractor/trailers) and power-train mechanics.

  • Knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, diesel engines, and transmissions.

  • Troubleshooting and repair skills.

  • Ability to use basic hand tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.

  • Authorized to work in the US.

  • Self-motivated.

  • Experience in preventative maintenance and diagnosing diesel engines.

Work Environment

This role involves working in a rendering facility, which requires tolerance for wet or slippery floors and high heat or cold temperatures. The environment may not be suitable for everyone, as there are dead animals present. It is crucial that candidates are aware and comfortable with these conditions.

This is a Contract position based out of Kuna, Idaho.
