Aerotek Controls Technician in Ligonier, Indiana

Description:

A facility in Ligonier is looking for a 2nd shift and 3rd shift Controls Technician for their facility.

This person has 3 main functions in their job as a controls tech. 40% of time firefighting, 40% of time working on projects, and the last 20% or so is mentoring and coaching maintenance technicians.

This Controls Tech will be called when maintenance comes across an issue they can not fix. That being said they will be required to turn a wrench and get 'dirty' to repair a problem. They can also be a 1st responder to a call where they will be required to perform all troubleshooting to get a machine up and running. However, a majority of their work with be dealing with PLCs and electrical issues, they can not be afraid to performing mechanical troubleshooting/repairs.

When looking at the PLC functions of the job: the person must be able to modify the logic and add/remove a device. It is expected that this tech is able to troubleshoot and verify instrumentation: limits, proxies, photoeyes, transducer/encoder feedback, etc. They will not need to be able to write code from scratch (would be great if they could). . Experience with drives will be a plus since they will need to be able to replace and download/upload parameters. They will be expected to remote access, terminal access, and HMI Access machinery to check coding, troubleshot issues, or assist in turnkey installations.

The last part of their role will be around training and developing other maintenance technicians. When they are called to the team by the maintenance guy who could not figure out the issue, they will be expected to show and train maintenance tech how to solve issue, so the next time the tech can do it himself or complete more of the process on their own.

When they are not mentoring the lower level Electricians. They will be responsible for repairing or troubleshooting plant wide equipment or machinery. They have 89 Fanuc Robots, PLC's ( Allen Bradley 5, 500, 5000), conveyor systems, ovens, , they also have smaller hydraulic presses, welding equipment. Electrically they will be expected to have experience troubleshooting up to 480 V 3phase and perform automation work on the PLC's troubleshooting the ladder logic, motor controls, servo drives, VFD's. They will spend 80 percent of their time they will be performing reactionary maintenance or preventative maintenance. The other 20 percent of the time they will performing integration of equipment such as adding robots to conveyor systems, working alongside Control Engineers to reprogram or add devices on equipment.

MUST HAVES:

  • 5+ years of Controls Technician/Electrician experience

-Proficient in in PLC's

-must be able to understand inputs and outputs

-Ability to do Edits (don't need to do any programming)

-Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics

-Ability to manipulate and set point on robots

-Familiarity with vision systems

  • Able to mechanically troubleshoot motors, gears, repacks for robots, perform tear downs

  • Able to troubleshoot up to 480 V 3phase troubleshooting VFD's, motors, and other electrical components

2nd shift: is from 2:00/3:00 PM - 10:00/11:00 PMPM

3rd Shift (10/11 PM - 6/7 AM)

Night Shift: 7pm-7am (2-2-3-2)

Pay:

Base= $33- $35.30

$3 shift premium

$2 attendance bonus

$1500 sign on bonus

$110 for steel toes
