Aerotek Maintenance Mechanic in MEMPHIS, Tennessee

Description:

  • The production line mechanic will be responsible for all production maintenance, including product quality control, line maintenance, and repair of line machinery and equipment. This role involves applying mechanical expertise in determining work methods and procedures for producing quality product.   • Technicians will be responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing any mechanical malfunctions on high speed production machinery including; jams, changeovers, LOTO, etc. Machines typically produce 300 - 350 cans per minute.

  • Will be troubleshooting both mechanically and electrically on their specified line. They will be required to operate the machinery for a period to get to know the equipment along with learning the maintenance and PM required for the lines.

  • This job requires 95% mechanical and 5% electrical.

Duties:

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance checks on all production equipment and machinery

  • Examine machine during changeovers and start up machines for production based on Production Schedule.

  • Repair basic mechanical components and replace parts on machines such as bearings, filters, valves and gauges

  • Observe and listen to mechanical devices in operation to locate causes of problem

  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts

  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements

  • Lubricate and clean machinery and support equipment to maintain housekeeping and preventive maintenance standards within the plant

  • Document and track changeover times

  • Document and track reasons for down time, Operating Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and other KPIs

  • Generate and accomplish work orders to maintain safety; reduce downtime; decrease scrap; improve quality production; and improve plant efficiency

  • Train, observe and coach other employees including operators, mechanics and temporary employees

  • Complete Root Cause Analyses for excessive downtime

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

  • Ability to interpret documents such as procedure manuals, blue prints, schematics, charts, diagrams, etc.

  • Strong understanding of systems, equipment and schematics

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills

  • Basic mathematical skills including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and calculate fractions

  • Ability to perform work in a mature and professional manner, demonstrate personal responsibility, and perform all assigned duties

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years in maintenance related position within a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of training (degree) and experience
