Job Title: OUTSIDE Machinist Diesel Mechanic
Job Description
As an OUTSIDE Machinist Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for conducting diesel engine repairs, rebuilds, and overhauls, as well as working on other types of engines. You will also assist in tearing down, repairing, replacing, and installing reduction gears, working on large mechanical systems and heavy equipment, and possibly conducting generator repairs, rebuilds and overhauls, and repairing deck equipment and machinery. You will need to analyze jobs from start to finish, ensuring proper and safe work methods are used. You will read and interpret work specifications, blueprints, technical manuals, and design sketches, and assemble, repair, and fabricate metal parts. You may also be required to install ship machinery and test and inspect installed machinery and equipment during dock and sea trials. Furthermore, you will assist, guide, and demonstrate good marine practices, identify and troubleshoot mechanical problems, and report to your supervisor.
