Job Title: Pipefitter

Job Description

Join our team as a Pipefitter, where you will be responsible for installing and maintaining ships' piping systems such as steam, heat and power, hot water, hydraulic, air pressure, and oil. Your tasks will include planning the layout of pipe sections, cutting and boring holes in bulkheads and decks for installation, cutting and threading pipe and pipe fittings, bending pipe to specified shapes, and connecting pipes to ship equipment like heat exchangers and pumps. You will also be responsible for repairing valves, testing installed systems for leaks, ensuring that systems meet specifications, completing Work Authorization Forms, and adhering to safety standards and hot work protocols.

Job Type

This is a contract position with a duration of 6 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Norfolk, Virginia.

Work Environment

Shipyard/Outdoor environment. Work will primarily be at Nassco, BAE, MHI, Norfolk Naval. The role operates on a 1st shift (7-3:30) and occasionally on a 2nd shift (3-11) as needed. Weekend work is usually required on Saturdays, with the possibility of overtime 2 hours before and after the start of the shift. Average hours per week range from 40-55 depending on workload.
