Aerotek Shipfitter in Norfolk, Virginia

Job Title: Shipfitter

Job Description

As a Shipfitter, you'll ensure work safety and uphold quality standards. You'll be expected to layout, fabricate, and brace metal structural parts such as plates, bulkheads, and frames from blueprints or templates. You'll position parts in the hull of the ship and align them using various tools. You'll also mark location of holes for drilling and install temporary fasteners for welding. Additional duties include preparing molds and templates for nonstandard parts, tack welding clips and brackets, and shaping heavy metal parts using shop machinery. You will also be expected to keep your work areas clean and organized, adhere to all company rules and policies, and report any unsafe work conditions or practices to your supervisor.

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 6 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Newport News, Virginia.

Work Environment

You'll be working on various ships around the Hampton Roads area. DBIDS and HII background are needed! You may also be required to manually lift raw materials, final products, and items packed for shipment (up to 60 pounds) or use a hoist.
