Job Title: Shipyard Laborer
Job Description
Assist in the installation, maintenance, repair, and modification of cable systems. Ensure techniques, materials, and accomplishments meet technical standards and specifications and engineering directives. Operate hand and power tools of all types, including air hammers and measuring equipment. Clean and prepare sites, clean up rubble and debris, and remove materials for work. Assist other trade workers as needed.
Responsibilities
Load and unload equipment, and carry materials to skilled workers.
Remove paint and scale from ships’ metal surfaces using hand or powered wire brushes.
Convey materials and tools to work sites.
Load vehicles using hand trucks or dollies.
Wash trucks and other vehicles.
Clean ships, piers, drydocks, and other working areas using brooms and water hoses.
Open shipping crates using hammers and pinch bars.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Ability to obtain DBIDS
U.S. Citizenship
High school diploma or GED
Ability to complete OSHA/FW and RADCON training prior to starting
Previous shipyard experience (at least 2-4 months)
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00
